Colorado Friends

Rich and Nicole are great school buddies who now live in Colorado. I try not to hold it against them. We met their daughter Jayden. She is only 10 days younger than Amika. It was great watching the two babies interact.

Daycare Diva

Veronica Amaya

Amika received her first cabbage patch doll. Believe it or not, I got a bit misty eyed over that. I mean it's her first real dolly and she got something that I never had as a little whipper. Amika LOVES her, in fact in one of the pictures..maybe too much love.

Volleyball

Amika went to Moorhead to cheer on Katie's team in JO Volleyball. Uncle Scott was protecting Amika from flying volleyballs. Amika is not quite sure what to think about this volleyball thing yet...

A new behavior

I got a kick out of watching Amika with her new toys. She was pulling the cups apart, they would roll away, she would try to scoop them all back to her. Of course she put them in her mouth. The interesting part was that she would get mad if they ALL were not in front of her. She would cry and want me to bring them back to her if they rolled away. I haven't seen her get frustrated with a toy like that before...

"treble maker"

I got this onesie about 3 years ago, just when we started the adoption process. It's just been waiting for the right baby. I can't help notice the colors...hhhhmmm...she's trying to be a Sturgis Scooper.

In just ONE week...

Mother Nature is sure funny. WE received overnight 15+inches of snow. The great thing is that tomorrow it will be 50 degrees. blah to snow Poor robin redbreast was all confused.

Surprise!

Amika Amazed us on Monday by sitting up all by herself at school. WHOHOO! I looked over and realized that "hey, she's sitting by herself". It kind of took us both by surprise. AND we had to have a picture of Amika's first teacher. :-) We are so lucky to have a fabulous Early Childhood Family Education program. We sing, read books, and network with other parents. We even have artwork on the fridge. It's April 25th today and we are in a winter storm warning. La Nina is really freaking me out!

One picture is BEFORE Amika's "gotcha day" MAY 15th and one picture is AFTER "gotcha day". I feel as though I need to explain to some of my "family" members that the before picture she is crying and the after picture she is happy. :-)

We can't wait until the day she is really, truly and legally all ours!!

Sad Day for Pelican Rapids

I wanted to get the news out to people would say a prayer for our community. In addition to the death there are 4 people in serious condition in the cities hospitals. The band director who was on the bus that crashed is a great friend of ours. I spent the day with his wife. It's pretty surreal now. All the students are home now and I guess the aftershock and mourning will be the hardest part.

When Jessica Weishair was in elementary I remember this shy little smile that could melt your heart. As a high schooler her smile would light up a room.
